Drone Video Production for an Action Sports Venue Built for Movement

This drone video project captured the energy, scale and outdoor setting of 508 International during its Grand Opening in April 2017.
508 International, located in Charlton, Massachusetts, was created as an action sports and entertainment venue where motorsports, outdoor recreation, competitions and community events could come together in one place.
The venue’s mission was to create a vibrant hub for sports entertainment where new experiences, competitions and partnerships could develop.
For PhotoFlight Aerial Media, the project was a strong fit because the facility needed visual media that could show activity, terrain, movement and atmosphere in a way that ground cameras alone could not fully capture.
Set on a large outdoor property in central Massachusetts, 508 International offered an impressive setting for action sports enthusiasts. Its growing list of activities included 4x4s, dirt bikes, climbing, yoga and other outdoor programs designed to support athletes, families, youth development and the broader action sports community.

Showing the full scale of an outdoor action sports venue
Action sports venues need visual coverage that can show more than one activity or one section of land. Aerial video helped capture the size of the 508 International property, the layout of the venue and the movement happening across different areas of the site.
For this project, our drone coverage helped communicate what made the facility different. Viewers could see the outdoor terrain, open space and active setting in a way that supported the venue’s brand as an action sport collaborative community.
That kind of coverage is especially useful for venues that rely on excitement, participation and future event promotion. A single video can help show visitors, athletes, sponsors and event organizers what the property feels like before they arrive.
Capturing motion, activity and event energy safely

Drones are well suited for action sports coverage because they can capture dynamic movement from angles that are difficult to achieve from the ground. When operated by an experienced and legally compliant drone service provider, they become a practical marketing tool for outdoor venues, competitions and live events.
At 508 International, aerial footage helped show the energy around the Grand Opening while keeping the production efficient and controlled. The goal was to capture the venue’s excitement without interfering with participants, staff, vehicles or event operations.
That balance matters on active sports properties. Professional drone operators need to understand camera movement, airspace rules, safety planning and the pace of live event coverage.
Supporting marketing, events and future partnerships

508 International’s business model was built around collaboration, participation and new opportunities in the action sports space. Strong visual media helped support that direction by giving the venue promotional footage that could be used to attract visitors, promote events and communicate the facility’s purpose.
For sports and entertainment venues, video does more than document what happened on one day. It helps create a visual identity that can be used across websites, social media, event promotions, sponsorship materials and future marketing campaigns.
PhotoFlight Aerial Media was proud to support 508 International as an aerial media partner and help showcase the venue during such an important opening moment.
Training the next generation of drone camera operators
508 International also provided a valuable setting for drone camera operator training. Action sports environments give operators practical experience with movement, timing, camera control and live-event awareness.
By working around real activity in a controlled and professional way, drone operators can build the skills needed for sports videography, event coverage and multi-camera production environments.
That experience benefits both the production team and future clients because action sports drone work requires more than attractive footage. It requires planning, discipline, safety awareness and the ability to capture fast-moving subjects in a way that supports the final story.
