Common Questions

Everything you need to know about our drone services and what to expect from your project.

What types of drone services do you offer?

We offer comprehensive drone services including aerial photography, cinematography, real estate photography, event coverage, construction monitoring, news broadcasting, marketing video production, and industrial inspections. Our team specializes in both commercial and creative applications with professional-grade equipment.

Do you have the necessary permits and insurance?

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured. All our pilots hold FAA Part 107 certifications, and we carry comprehensive liability insurance. We handle all necessary permits and authorizations for commercial drone operations, including special use authorizations when required.

What information do you need to prepare a quote?

Send us the project location, preferred timeframe, intended use of the imagery, and the deliverables you require. Information about site access, filming restrictions, and important deadlines will also help us determine the appropriate crew, equipment, and flight requirements.

Can you provide drone services near an airport?

In many cases, yes. The ability to operate near an airport depends on the exact location, airspace classification, permitted altitude, and required flight path. PhotoFlight Aerial Media will assess the site and determine whether FAA authorization or additional planning is required.

Can you provide drone photography and video in New York City?

Drone operations in New York City require additional planning and approvals. Depending on the project, this may include an NYPD permit for takeoff and landing, FAA airspace authorization, property access, and other location-specific requirements. Contact us early so we can assess the proposed site and timeframe.

Can you work around an active construction site or industrial facility?

Usually. Drone operations can often be planned around normal site activity without shutting down the entire property. We coordinate access, establish a suitable takeoff and landing area, and plan the flight around workers, equipment, restricted areas, and site-safety requirements.

Can you provide recurring construction progress photography?

Yes. PhotoFlight can schedule recurring aerial photography and video to document construction progress at agreed intervals. Consistent viewpoints make it easier to compare site conditions, communicate with stakeholders, and create a useful visual record of the project.

Do you provide drone mapping, 3D models, and thermal imaging?

Yes. Depending on the project, PhotoFlight can provide orthomosaic maps, 3D models, elevation data, thermal imaging, and other specialized aerial deliverables. We will recommend the appropriate equipment and output based on the intended use and required level of detail.

Can you provide indoor or nighttime drone video?

Yes. PhotoFlight provides indoor drone videography for suitable locations such as factories, studios, theaters, and warehouses. Night operations are also available when the site, airspace, lighting, and applicable operating requirements allow the flight to be completed safely.

What equipment do you use?

We use professional-grade equipment including DJI Inspire 2, DJI Mavic 3 Pro, and custom-built drones. For cinematography, we utilize RED Professional Cinema Cameras and high-end gimbals for smooth, cinematic footage. All equipment is regularly maintained and updated with the latest technology.

How much do your services cost?

Pricing varies based on project scope, location, duration, and specific requirements. We offer competitive rates and provide detailed quotes after understanding your needs. Contact us for a free consultation and customized quote for your project.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance for most projects. For events or time-sensitive projects, earlier booking is advised. We can sometimes accommodate last-minute requests depending on availability and project requirements.

What weather conditions affect drone flights?

We monitor weather conditions closely and won't fly in high winds (over 25 mph), rain, snow, or low visibility. Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions are unfavorable, we'll reschedule your shoot at no additional cost.

What areas do you serve?

We serve the entire East Coast including Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and surrounding areas. We're based in Manchester, CT, and travel for projects throughout the region. Additional travel fees may apply for locations outside our primary service area.

How long does it take to receive the final footage?

Turnaround time depends on project complexity and post-production requirements. Typically, we deliver edited footage within 5-10 business days. Rush delivery options are available for an additional fee. We'll provide a specific timeline during the project planning phase.

Do you provide raw footage or just edited videos?

We can provide both raw footage and edited content depending on your needs. Our standard packages include professionally edited videos and photos, but raw footage is available for an additional fee. We'll discuss your preferences during the project planning phase.
